Sanford Cosponsors Bill to Eliminate Healthcare Exemption for Congress
WASHINGTON, DC - Today, Representative Mark Sanford (R-SC) signed on as a cosponsor of a bill introduced by Congresswoman Martha McSally (R-AZ). This bill would eliminate the exemption for members of Congress and congressional staff to state waiver provisions in the American Health Care Act.
He released the following statement:
“The American Health Care Act’s latest change wouldn’t apply the same rules to Congress as the American public. Congresswoman McSally’s bill would preemptively right this wrong, if the American Health Care Act were to become law.
“Every day, Congress fights to support the will of its constituents. In that vein, whatever healthcare law is deemed good for the American people should also be good enough for Congress. It seems only fair that people in Washington should also live with the decisions they make for the rest of the country.”
